FACADE

User Training (Hands On): FACADE Training Environment (Interactive)

In order to facilitate up-to-date cost analysis training in an operational environment, CAPE implemented a Training Environment known as the Functional Academic Cost Assessment Data Enterprise, or FACADE (pron. “fake-CADE”). FACADE has all the same functionality as the CADE portal but is populated with a robust set of non-proprietary data representative of DoD acquisition programs. CAPE is continuing to fund the population of FACADE with additional data sufficient for the development of a wide range of case studies and other student exercises. This Training Environment is doubly beneficial, both providing training data sets and exercises in the context of a program and its myriad associated data as captured in CADE, and teaching the navigation and use of CADE as part and parcel of the cost analysis curriculum.

CAPE is partnered with Defense Acquisition University (DAU) in the continual improvement of the Business – Cost Estimating curriculum, including incorporation of FACADE. We are also reaching out to other curricula, in particular Contracting and Program Management, to make FACADE available in courses as appropriate. Through the use of FACADE, we can more effectively articulate and convey the utility of CADE to these related disciplines within the defense acquisition enterprise. FACADE is available not only to DAU but also the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS), Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), and other institutions and organizations conducting cost- and acquisition-related training.

Unlike CADE, which is open to DoD government analysts with a Common Access Card (CAC), FACADE requires only a userid and password, and accounts may be granted to support contractors, industry data providers, and civilians from other departments such as the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Department of Energy (DOE), all of whom often attend DAU classes, DoDCAS, and other training events. To log in to FACADE, click the green FACADE button at the top of this page. To apply for an account, follow the Registration Instructions.
